RefereesRefresher of covered materials from Ref Class (8/2010) Referee Meeting (Tuesday, September 7th, 6:00pm): ü Much like last Spring, and just as the coaches do, we’ll have a preseason Referees’ Meeting – a chance to catch up on AYSO news, talk about plans for the season, renew comaraderies, and foster friendship & mentorship. Oh, and some prizes and awards!! Thanks to Pete Xiques and the Board, we’ve got a few things to raffle off. While the coaches often get recognition (and even gifts) from their team’s parents at the end of each season, we know that the Refs rarely get the glory they really, truly do deserve for their contribution to AYSO. So here’s a modest attempt to share some glory and say thank you for what you do: 1) An AYSO All-weather Performance Jacket (pictured below) will be raffled amongst the 10 people who reffed the most games last Spring (must be present to win). 2) Three sets of movie tickets for two to be raffled amongst everyone who reffed last Spring – with the number of entries in the raffle proportional to the number of games reffed (must be present to win). 3) A couple of stop watches to be raffled amongst all those who attend the meeting. ü I’ll respect your time and we won’t go on more than ~45-50 minutes. So please try hard to be on time so we all can respect each other’s time – and be done by 6:50. ü The meeting will be held at the AYSO office (unless there’s overwhelming pressure to have it on the deck at Cancun’s) on Louisiana Avenue (behind the United Grocery Outlet).
